A black kitten and an upside-down white kitten in a demotivational frame: “Tacgnol vs Longcat / In a epic battle since birth.”

The apocalypse, before either side has grown into its paws

The caption gives two small kittens the backstory of ancient cosmic enemies. Neither needs to be stretched here: the established Longcat-versus-Tacgnol mythology supplies the scale that the photograph hilariously lacks. These are captioned kittens, not a photograph of the actual mythic battle.

The tiny labels, axis and data-source footer give the nonsense the visual authority of a serious infographic. Longcat does not merely appear beside the buildings; she gets admitted to their comparison as if she were another construction project. The cat’s 900 metres is the joke, not a factual measurement.

A very calm cat in a very expensive disaster

The disaster-movie surroundings do all the panicking. The cat’s placid face and outstretched paws remain spectacularly unsuited to being a terrifying monster. This is an edited fantasy scene, not documentation of a real emergency.

About & sources

A white cat held upright becomes an impossibly tall character: remixes stretch the joke by changing the world around the cat.

Date

Know Your Meme places the photograph on Futaba Channel around 2004–2005 and records naming milestones in 2006; the precise first-post date is uncertain.

History

The photograph features the cat known as Nobiko. Know Your Meme dates its early Futaba Channel circulation approximately to 2004–2005 and cites a February 2006 nobiiru-tan reference and a September 2006 Urban Dictionary entry. The selected year marks those source-reported naming milestones, not a verified photograph creation date or first upload. Later edits place the cat in exaggerated settings or extend its surroundings to suggest enormous length. The preview is a five-photo collage, with the upright cat in the center and four resting or close-up views around it. It is not the single original photograph, a blank editing template, or a complete archive of the edits or animations. The source entry also links to sensitive community material; this exhibit uses only a non-graphic cat preview. The photographer and other rightsholders retain their rights: private research display and attribution do not establish permission for public reuse.
