Optional Google Analytics

If you allow it, Google Analytics uses cookies to measure visits, return visits and activity across the archive, including this page. Google receives device and browser information and processes network information, including your IP address. This is not anonymous browsing.

Enhanced measurement can collect page views, engagement, scrolls, outbound link destinations, file downloads, form interactions and supported video activity. Site search measurement may include search terms. Search terms in shared links and other user-entered URLs can contain personal information: please do not enter personal or sensitive details. We do not send form field values, account identities or extra advertising events; we disable Google Signals and advertising personalization in our tag, and advertising consent stays denied.

Google loads only after you choose Allow. Decline is equally available, and the footer’s Analytics settings lets you change your choice or revoke it. Revoking removes this integration’s Google Analytics cookies and reloads the page to stop its scripts. Your choice is kept in this browser’s local storage; if storage is unavailable, it may not be remembered. Blocking cookies or scripts can limit measurement. Previously sent data is not erased by revoking.

Local aggregate counts

Separately, our own server counts page loads and interactions: exhibit views, searches, filters, galleries, source and full-size image links, sharing and feedback. These counters store daily totals by action and catalog ID or fixed category, not search text, link destinations, visitor IDs, cookies, fingerprints, IP addresses, user agents, referrers or browsing URLs. Counts are approximate, may include bots, and are not unique visitor totals. This privacy page does not send local counter events.

Your browser and delivery

Do Not Track, Global Privacy Control and analytics-off browsing with ?test=1 disable both analytics systems, even after an earlier Allow. Keep that parameter on each page. With JavaScript disabled, neither system runs. Optional saved reading lists use local browser storage separately.

Cloudflare and our reverse proxy deliver the site and process network requests separately. We have not verified their logging or retention settings.
