About & sources

A deadpan performer combines imaginary fruit and pens with a tiny dance, turning an absurd word game into a repeatable routine.

Date

Piko-Taro comedy music video, released online in 2016.

History

The selected 2016 marks the video’s release and early circulation, not the date of later image edits. Piko-Taro is a fictional stage persona of Japanese entertainer Kazuhiko Kosaka, also known as Kosaka Daimaoh. Know Your Meme dates the YouTube release to August 25, 2016; that precise date is retrospective-source-attributed, not independently established here. Its chronology describes September lip-sync compilations and parodies, while Heather Chen’s BBC report dated September 27, 2016 independently identifies the performer and documents contemporary viral coverage. The performance makes its own simple rule: mime two objects, combine their names, then repeat with a bigger combination. This representative performance still includes Japanese and English song-title text over the performer; it does not preserve the song, timing, dance or original playable video. No music or video is hosted. Music, performance and imagery retain their respective rights; private display and attribution are not public-reuse permission.
