History

One astronaut discovers an absurd secret about Earth; the armed astronaut behind him answers “Always has been,” turning revelation into a threat. Know Your Meme traces a December 2016 flat-Earth drawing posted by Wiegand6 to Reddit: its reply was “Sry fam,” not the later catchphrase. A documented 2018 America version uses the familiar wording; Ohio edits followed in 2019. In June 2020, nickslicktricks posted a more realistic astronaut version to r/memes with Earth made of chicken tenders. That post documents circulation, not proof of who created the artwork. A contemporary eBaum’s World gallery collected the format’s variations as a 2020 trend. Replacing Earth, relabeling the figures and redrawing the scene let the same joke move between food, geography and games. The 2020 marker denotes this later spread, not the earliest drawing.
