About & sources

Two brothers’ home-video interaction spawns captions, remakes and remixes.

Date

Howard Davies-Carr filmed the video March 19, 2007 and uploaded it May 22, 2007.

History

Howard Davies-Carr uploaded the family clip to share with the boys’ godfather in Colorado. Harry puts a finger in baby Charlie’s mouth, then protests as Charlie bites and laughs. Howard told ABC News in 2012 that he returned to remove the upload, only to discover thousands of views and rapid growth. Adult re-enactments and musical remixes extended the joke beyond the home video. In June 2021, Harry and Charlie told BBC Newsbeat that the NFT auction money would fund university for them and their younger brothers. Despite earlier removal announcements, Howard said the buyer was happy to leave it up on YouTube. That decision describes the 2021 agreement, not a guarantee of continuing access.
