A quiet read turns into a noise complaint, then an island-wide crab-girl party. The last panel puts a dancer on the roof while the baffled resident calls for help: the rave is not background music any more, it is a problem at your actual house. This is a silent comic, not footage from the original video.

A crab takes the place of the theatrical silhouette on a Hamilton-style star. The elaborate gold treatment promises a major cultural event; the title promises dancing crustaceans. It is a fan-made poster parody, not an announcement of an actual Noisestorm stage musical.

underlying Crab Rave and Hamilton imagery remain with their respective owners.

About & sources

Computer-animated crabs dance on an island, providing an exuberant backdrop for remixes and deliberately incongruous captions.

Date

Noisestorm / Monstercat; April 1, 2018 song release and animated music video.

History

Monstercat’s Bandcamp release page credits Noisestorm and dates the track to April 1, 2018. Know Your Meme describes the accompanying island-dance video and its 2018 spread through mashups, edits and ironic captions. The selected year marks that release and remix wave, not later uses of crab emojis. Some later uses celebrate real deaths; this exhibit documents the format without endorsing harassment or those celebrations. The representative dancing-crab still is not playable preservation of the video or music. The label lists the track as all rights reserved; image and music rights remain uncleared for public reuse.
