The image needs no elaborate setup: the face, the game world and the chant announce a single all-consuming occupation. Written in giant capitals, the lyric becomes a proud declaration rather than incidental gameplay chatter.

Minecraft imagery belongs to its owners; underlying chant associated with Yogscast Simon.

Change one noun and the dwarf anthem becomes a fox’s working day. The caption presents repetitive digging as its own inexplicable commitment; its 2.5 hours claim is part of the joke, not an independently verified stream duration.

About & sources

An improvised dwarf-mining chant escapes a Minecraft playthrough and becomes material for fan animations, remixes and a later full song.

Date

Yogscast’s Minecraft Shadow of Israphel series, later expanded into songs.

History

The selected 2011 marks the gameplay chant and its early remix wave, not the later full-length song. Know Your Meme traces the phrase to Simon and Lewis’s February 3, 2011 Shadow of Israphel episode: Lewis prompts a song about a dwarf digging, and Simon sings the refrain. Its retrospective identifies a March 2011 Ceeraanoo animation/remix and an August fan-song upload on the Yogscast channel, then distinguishes the new original song released in July 2014. This chronology is source-attributed rather than an independently proven first-ever appearance. The preview is a representative Keep Calm-style text graphic, not a frame authenticated from the original gameplay or a playable archive. No gameplay, animation, song audio or music video is hosted. Artwork, music and game rights remain with their respective holders; source attribution in this private prototype does not clear public reuse.
