About & sources

A hungry, mischievous drawn cat turns the ordinary struggle to wake its owner into expressive, mostly visual internet comedy.

Date

Simon Tofield’s Cat Man Do; the selected 2008 is its official-channel chapter, not an exclusive first-creation claim.

History

Know Your Meme dates the simonscat channel’s Cat Man Do upload to March 4, 2008. That is the selected timeline chapter, not proof that the film first existed then: a 2013 Boston Herald interview describes a 2007 start and quotes Simon Tofield recalling the first film going viral in “2007/2008.” The official shop’s history confirms Tofield as the animator and Cat Man Do as the character’s first online film, without specifying a year. These accounts describe different stages rather than establishing one exact creation day. The series follows a mischievous cat and its long-suffering owner, later moving into books, games and comic strips. This preview is representative character artwork, not an authenticated frame of the debut film or playable preservation of the animation. Character and image rights remain uncleared for public reuse; private research preview only.
