About & sources

A musical crossover throws fictional heroes and real celebrities into an absurd escalating battle: recognition, unlikely matchups and a repeating chorus make the collision the joke.

Date

Neil Cicierega (Lemon Demon), music; Shawn Vulliez (altffour), animation. Newgrounds lists the upload on December 22, 2005.

History

The selected 2005 is the original Newgrounds publication year, not the 2009 date of Know Your Meme’s entry. The original submission lists December 22, 2005, credits altffour as artist and Trapezoid for music, and names Lemon Demon as author; Know Your Meme identifies the creators as animator Shawn Vulliez and songwriter Neil Cicierega. This is a pop-culture crossover parody, not evidence that its many characters share a fictional universe. Content note: the full animation contains cartoon fighting, deaths and bloody imagery. The preview shows cartoon Godzilla holding Optimus Prime near his mouth against a gray background, without visible blood: a representative screenshot from a later remaster, not the original Flash file or playable preservation of the music, editing or animation. Song, animation and depicted characters remain with their respective rightsholders; private display and attribution do not grant public-reuse permission.
