Know Your Meme documents a March 7, 2011 remix uploaded by MagicmusicX, followed by a Dr. Pez cover in 2012, a Brentalfloss version with lyrics in 2014 and a Hotline Bling mashup in 2015. This exhibit selects 2011 as a documented remix checkpoint, not the first-ever remix or the release year of the underlying Wii music. The joke moves a familiar interface soundtrack out of its shopping context and into new musical arrangements. This representative Wii Shop logo still contains no playable audio, video or functioning shop.
